Top 10 winter hairstyles for women

Whether you live in a place that is covered in snow, or you are still rocking a t-shirt by day, it is clear that winter is officially here. Things have cooled down a bit and chances are you have noticed your hair has begun to act a little bit different. When it gets cooler outside, we tend to turn up the heat in our showers and crank our heaters, which can lead to some serious hair damage. It is a good idea to try your best to put that hair dryer to the side for a bit. Using it once or twice a week is okay, but you will want to keep your hair from getting extra dry with daily blowouts.

So what do you do with your hair if you can’t style it like usual now that the temp has changed? Well, how about you adopt a new hairstyle? With winter finally here there are a lot of fun new hairstyles that you can try on for size.

Here are some of our favorite hairstyles for you women to try out this winter.

Ribbon detail

Feel oh-so French with this hairstyle. Simply wash your hair as normal, let it air dry, and tie it back with your ribbon of choice. Classic colors are best with this style, and we suggest staying away from patterned ribbons to avoid looking too young.

Low half knot

For those with wavy or curly hair, this look will be fabulous on you. Simply pull the top half of your hair back into a low knot. You’ll love having your hair off of your face, and in such a stylish fashion.

Beachy waves

Whether its summer or winter, waves are always in -- especially when you look like a mermaid who just hopped out of the ocean. And waves are even better when you aren’t using excess heat such as a diffuser to create them. Simply wash your hair the night before, put it up in a way that works best for your length, and take out the next morning. It’s as simple as that. Plus this style looks great bundled under a beanie!

Low knot pony

The amount of effort it takes to create this look is almost non-existent. Simply take your hair, divide it into two pieces at the nape of your neck, and tie it like you would tie a shoelace. Some pieces will likely fall out, but don’t worry about that -- the effortless appearance is part of this hairstyle’s charm.

Slick and shiny

Though this look does require heat, we promise it’s worth it. That shiny look, when done correctly, can turn a drab look into a fab one. All you’ve got to do is use a straightener to get your hair sorted, then run some hair oil through your hair to give it that glow. Be sure that you use hairspray to tone down any flyaways, and you’ll be looking great.

High pony

This look works best when done with freshly washed hair. Here’s what you’ll do: use a volumizing mousse while your hair is still damp. Then, blow dry and follow that with using a curling iron to make waves. This look is all about body, so don’t be shy with the texture spray as you’re putting together your ponytail. Tie it high up top, then use a brush to tease and comb more volume into it.

Messy side braid

This can be done a number of ways, but here’s our go-to method. Create a deep side-part in your hair, then start the braiding just below your jawline. The messy part of this really comes to life as you pull on a few of the braid sections to loosen them and give them that hyper-effortless, yet still stunning look.

Bubble pony

With just a few small hair ties and a few minutes, you’ll have this great look mastered. All you have to do is pull your hair up into a high pony and place a hair tie every few inches. Then carefully pull on the sides of each section between the hair ties to get more volume and shape -- to create your bubbles.

Headband

You want to be careful with how you wear a headband or you’ll end up looking like you’re back in your elementary school days. The key to this look is first slicking your hair back, and then pushing the headband back, rather than simply resting it on top of your hair. Be sure to texturize and volumize your hair once the headband is in.

Scrunchie

Yes, scrunchies have officially made a comeback, and a strong one at that. These little things are so simple and so versatile. From a low pony to a high pony, a low bun to a high bun and so much more in between, the number of looks you can create with a scrunchie feels almost infinite.
